Recent Suffolk Status: Fairly common along the coast, but also wanders inland regularly.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: A larger species than Ear moth. The kidney mark is normally more crescent moon shaped and the wings are longer. Olive and reddish coloured forms are common. Dissection is the most reliable way to separate this species from Ear and Large ear.

Habitat: Saltmarshes, coastal grassland.
