Status
Morley’s Final Catalogue: Local on birch at Tuddenham and Brandon (Wrn); Mildenhall and Darsham in May 1935, and at light by Fritton Lake in May 1937 (Mly).

Recent Status: Common in the Sandlings.

Life Style: A single brooded species with a partial second brood. Flies at night and comes to light during May June and August. The larvae feed on Betula species catkins. They hibernate fully fed in a cocoon on the tree in which they pupate.

Identification: A small Cochylis species marked with grey and some light brown.. The palps and head are pale. The thorax and wing base are marked with grey. There is a grey central band, marked with black that is very wide on the dorsum and narrows somewhat towards the costa.
