Status
Morley's Final Catalogue: Found only at Aldeburgh by Hele till September 1933, in which month a male flew to light in the middle of Southwold (Mly); larvae occur at Dunwich (Blair), Walberswick (Btn), Southwold (Mr).

Recent Suffolk Status: Very local all along the Suffolk coast and estuaries.

Life history: Single-brooded. Records from April to September in Suffolk. The larvae have been found fairly regularly in the county, feeding on Sea-aster on the edge of saltmarsh sites.

Identification: Mullein is slightly similar but lacks the oval and kidney mark as well as being sandy and brown in colour, unlike Star-wort which is grey and reddish brown.

Habitat: Saltmarshes.
