Recent Suffolk Status: Local, more common in the west of the county where there is more of the foodplant. Moths do wander on warm nights away from areas where there is Buckthorn.
Life history: Single-brooded. Larvae can be found in the late spring on Buckthorn.
Identification: Brown scallop does not have the obvious dark band.
Habitat: Woodland, scrubby areas, hedgerows.Recorded in 32 (55%) of 58 10k Squares. First Recorded in 1940. Last Recorded in 2023. |
