Morley's Final Catalogue: Not known to be indigenous in 1858, though very widely distributed and in small numbers in all our less harrowed villages; not in High Suffolk. Local and scarce about Sudbury (Ransom), scarce at Waldringfield; both sexes at Henham in July 1924; Reydon 1935 (Baker), Wrentham in July 1933 (R S Girling); Lowestoft, five at Bungay in 1903; Lound, Fritton; Gorleston in 1932 and 1933. Higham, Kennet; Tuddenham (Norgate) and bred there (Sparke); Brandon in 1934 (Doughty).

Recent Suffolk Status: Extinct. Last county record was in 1995/96. Much declined nationally.

Life history: Single brooded in the summer.

Identification: No similar species occur in the county.

Habitats: Former habitats included woodland, heathland, gardens and scrub areas.

First Recorded in 1903.
Last Recorded in 1995.
