Morley's Final Catalogue: Of uncertain appearance, apparently local in woods and old deforested areas. Bentley, frequent in odd years; Belstead; Henley; Brandeston, occasionally at Monks Soham light during 1908-33, Rendham, Beccles; Needham, Stowmarket, Felsham.

Recent Suffolk Status: Locally common in mid-Suffolk. Almost absent from the Brecks and quite local on the coast.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitat: Woodland, carr woodland, scrub.

Recorded in 33 (57%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1908.
Last Recorded in 2023.
