Morley's Final Catalogue: Our east-central area of England is the only part unpatonised by T. polycommata, which occurs no nearer than Monks Wood.

Recent Suffolk Status: No recent records, possibly extinct. Resident very locally in the Norfolk Brecks where it was discovered in 1980, but said to be in decline (J. Wheeler, Norfolk Moths website).

Life history: Single-brooded. Adults can be seen at rest after dark on twigs of the foodplant as well as coming to light.

Identification: Seraphim is greyer and lacks the brown patches on the wings.

Habitat: Scrub areas in Breck grassland.
