Cochylis roseana

(Haworth, 1811)962 / 49.134

Morley’s Final Catalogue: I have found no Roseana in teasel-heads in Suffolk (Whit, 1936). Apparantly quite rare with us: galleries in teasel-heads at Old Newton in 1937 (Mly); Mildenhall, one in 1937 (Gd).

Recent Status: Scarce in Suffolk but widely distributed.

Life Style: The species is single brooded summer flying species that comes to light. The larvae feed on the seeds of Dipsacus fullonum. They pupate in the seed-head.

Identification: A pale species with a prominent pink tinge, strongest along the costa and towards the apex. The wings are suffused ochreous and the cilia are barred. There is an oblique brown dorsal mark that widens slightly towards, but does not reach the costa. There is a very small tornal spot. More Info
