Recent Status: A common species in Suffolk.

Life Style: A double brooded species that comes to light. It can be found from May to September. The larvae feed on the flowers and seed heads of Asteraceae, particularly Senecio jacobaceae, Solidago virgaurea, Crepis and Hieracium. The autumn brood hibernates fully fed in a cocoon on the ground. Both broods pupate in a cocoon.

Identification: With similarities to C. atricapitana this species has a white head but the thorax and base of costa are dark. The central band is restricted to costal and dorsal marks and there is reduced marking at the termen and apex. More Info
