Morley’s Final Catalogue: Quite common, but not much observed. Frequent at Monks Soham in paddock, on cypresses and at light during July (Mly); Leiston (B. de Grey); Dunwich (Ctw); Lowestoft (Bd) Tuddenham and Brandon (Wrn).

Recent Status: Frequent on the lighter land areas of Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying from June to September and coming to light. The larvae feed from spinnings on the flowers and seeds of Plantago, Achillea, Origanum, Thymus and Calluna. They hibernate fully fed in the larval habitation where they pupate.

Identification: An easily identified species. The wings are light glossy ochre or cream with darker orange ochre patches and an irregular dark central band, sometimes reduced to one on the dorsum and on the costa. There is a dark termen specifically including a row of about five large dark spots/patches.
