Morley’s Final Catalogue: An abundant kind on the common Willowherb everywhere. Noted at Ipswich, Foxhall, Felixstow, freely at Monks Soham light, Hacheston, Leiston, Blythburgh Wood, Lowestoft. Frostenden 1936 (H. F. Allen).

Recent Status: The commonest Mompha species in Suffolk.

Life Style: A double brooded species that hibernates and can be found throughout the year. The larvae feed from spun shoots of leaves of Epilobium hirsutum. They pupate in the larval habitation else in another folded leaf.

Identification: The moth is marked with a mix of shades of brown. There may also be blackish scales patches along the costa or at the dorsal scale tufts. The only similar species is the larger M. ochraceella which is a brighter yellowish ochre.
