Morley’s Final Catalogue: Very local with us on rosebay. Leiston before 1890 (Grey). Rediscovered in Raydon Wood in 1932 (Mly, D), where it subsequently occurred freely in mid-May (Whit., Wir, &c.). Monks Soham window on only 22 March 1936.

Recent Status: The commoner of the two grey Mompha species.

Life Style: A single brooded species that hibernates and can be found throughout the year. The larvae feed inside the seed pods of Epilobium montanum and also < i>E. tetragonum. They pupate in a cocoon on the ground..

Identification: The smaller of the two grey Mompha species marked with white and black. This species lacks the white marks around the wing tip and the black dashes along the wing are less pronounced than in M. sturnipennella. More Info
