Morley’s Final Catalogue: Distinctly local in late July at Leiston (Grey); Aldeburgh in 1892, later at both Walberswick and Southwold (Ctw). Ipswich in 1932-5 (Whit).

Recent Status: This species is recorded in Suffolk. Only O. quadripuncta was listed by Morley hence the comments above refer to all Suffolk species.

Life Style: Oegoconia species fly from a single brood in mid-summer. The larvae feed on decaying vegetable material on the ground.

Identification: There are four British species of Oegoconia. The three species known to be British before 2016 are recorded in Suffolk. These species show interspecific pattern differences however they vary across location and habitat. It is therefore necessary to identify the species and their pattern at a particular location by genitalia dissection. More Info
