Morley’s Final Catalogue: A common inland, coast, and Breck species. Copdock (Hkg), Bentley (Whit), Foxhall in May 1907 (Mly), Blaxhall (Hkr). Aldeburgh, Leiston, Southwold (Ctw). Brandon, and abundant on Icklingham Plains in June (Mly). Benacre denes, Sept. 1937.

Recent Status: Abundant on the Sandlings and Breckland.

Life Style: A multi-brooded species that can be found from March to November. The larvae feed on Rumex acetosa and R. acetosella. They pupate on the ground or in the larval feeding tube.

Identification: An exceedingly variable species in colour balance and marking intensity. More Info One common feature is the dark oblique bar across the wing near the base.
The larvae mine leaves in spring. More Info At other times they will feed on the leaves, flowers and seeds from a spun tubular retreat. They will also bore into a stem and down into the roots.
