Recurvaria leucatella

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Elsewhere usually abundant by beating apple-orchards in July. Uncommon with us: Ipswich "(Pyett, Whit). Waldringfield in 1930 (Wir); Flixton near Bungay (Ctw).

Recent Status: A distinctive moth that is not as commonly recorded as might be.

Life Style: A single brooded summer flying species that comes to light. The larvae feed between spun leaves on Malus, Crataegus and Sorbus aucuparia. The larvae hibernate. They pupate in a cocoon in the larval habitation.

Identification: A distinctive moth that cannot be confused. It has a dark wing with a broad sharply defined white band close to the wing base. The head is cream and there may be opposing white tornal and costal spots. More Info
