Morley’s Final Catalogue: Common among gorse; unnoted in the west, except at Brandon. Ipswich district not rare in July (Pyett, Whit.), Orford (Whit.), Leiston (Grey), Blythburgh Wood (Mly), Southwold (Ctw), Lowestoft (J. Sang), Oulton May 1931 and Gorleston (D).

Recent Status: Common where the foodplant grows.

Life Style: A single brooded night flying species that comes to light. It may sometimes hibernate and appear in spring but is otherwise found from June to November. The larvae feed from spun shoots or flowers on Ulex, Cytisus, Genista or Lupinus arboreus.

Identification: This species has a straight costa and termen which is not spotted. The cilia are shaded darker ochre. The moth is pale creamy ochre with variable black spotting and shading of grey and ochre. The shading can result in inter-vein dark striping. The basal dash may be present. The Agonopterix twin spots if present may be reduced to one. The central suffuse patch can be absent or large.. Some forms resemble A. assimilella but that species has dots on the termen.
