Agonopterix alstromeriana

Morley’s Final Catalogue: On hemlock, so wanting on the boulder-clay. Not infrequent in the east: Bentley Woods, scarce round Ipswich (Pyett); at light there in November and April, Foxhall (Mly); Sotterly in April 1936 (Od), Leiston, Southwold, Lowestoft, Gorleston.

Recent Status: Suffolk’s most recorded Agonopterix species. Primarily on lighter land.

Life Style: Single brooded and comes to light. The moth hibernates laying ova in spring on Conium Hemlock. The larvae feed on the seeds and pupate on the ground.

Identification: A small pale Agonopterix species with an intricate pattern unlike any other British species.
