Life Style: Single brooded and flying from March to May this species comes to light. The larvae feed on Betula, Carpinus and Tillia cordata. They pupate in a cocoon on the ground.
Identification: A strikingly marked moth. It is distinguished from the similar S. steinkellneriana by the black wing streak starting at the wing base. The streak is often bifid terminally and narrower than the one of S. steinkellneriana. The larvae feed from a tightly rolled leaf edge open at both ends. More Info
