Morley’s Final Catalogue: Frequent on oak in woods and apple in orchards throughout the County in July and August. Bentley Woods, somewhat common round Ipswich, at light and sitting on oak-trunks in garden at Monks Soham. Hacheston, Blaxhall, Southwold, Gorleston. Barton Mills.

Recent Status: An abundant species in Suffolk.

Life Style: The moth is double brooded and can be found from May to December. The larvae feed on a variety of deciduous tree and shrub leaves but particularly Quercus and Fagus. They pupate in the larval habitation under a silken web.

Identification: An instantly recognisable moth in bright yellow, orange, brown and dull red with long antennae folded back along the wings.
The larvae feed from a web on the underside of leaves usually lying alongside the mid-vein.
