Borkhausenia minutella

(Linnaeus, 1758)645 / 28.011

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Larvae on dry seeds. lpswich palings in 1903; very numerous at Monks Soham light, in garden and stables 10 May to 24 July only (Mly); Glemham Magna (Bloomf.); Leiston (Grey); Southwold (Ctw). In neither north nor west.

Recent Status: Recent records suggest this species is spreading from Kent and the Southeast. Found again in the County in 2022 at Stutton (T. Fox).

Life Style: A single brooded species flying in May and June. The larvae are litter feeders or on dried seed stores. They hibernate.

Identification: The moth is dark glossy brown with two opposing, staggered deep yellow spots at two thirds. More Info Any record must be supported with evidence.
