Morley’s Final Catalogue: Not very common, about elm. Hemley in 1902 (Wir); Bentley Woods on sugar, Ipswich sitting on holly, Southwold (Mly); not uncommon on Gorleston palings (D).

Recent Status: A rare species in Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying from June to September. The larvae feed from a slight web on the flowers and leaves of Fagus and Ulmus. They pupate in a loose white cocoon on the trunk of the tree or the ground.

Identification: The moth has a resemblance to Y. sequella but has a darker ground colour and the markings are less distinct particularly along the costa. There are also varieties much marked with black and also with the marking brownish. More Info
