Morley’s Final Catalogue: Another frequent blackthorn-feeder. Copdock, Bentley Woods, Orford, Monks Soham garden, Aldeburgh, Leiston, Southwold, Lowestoft and palings at Gorleston.

Recent Status: Uncommon across Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded summer flying species that comes to light. The larvae feed in the buds or flowers of Prunus spinosa.

Identification: A small Argyresthia with orange brown to dark brown forewings sometimes with a purple sheen. A clear white streak from the head to near one half on the dorsum followed by a slightly darker brown dorsal patch and indistinct cream/orange brown beyond to the tornus. Costal marks are indistinct. A unicolorous form exists. Similar species A. semitestacella is much larger.
