Oidaematophorus lithodactyla

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Bred at Hemley 1932 (Bp); local among Inula et Pulicaria at Campsey-ash (Hkr); Leiston (Grey); and Flixton near Bungay (Ctw). Elveden (Williams).

Recent Status: Scarce and local.

Life Style: The moth is single brooded flying during June, July and August. The larvae feed during spring on Inula conyzae and Pulicaria dysenterica. They initially feed in the young shoots and later lace lower leaves. They rest on the upper surface mid-rib of a leaf that has not been eaten. They pupate on the foodplant.

Identification: The moth is variable in ground colour from white to dull brown. The intensity of the markings varies. The front legs each have a prominent dark tuft on a pale leg and the mid-legs have two pairs of tufts. More Info
