([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)149 / 7.007

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Discovered in April 1936 to occur sparingly on sallows in Herringfleet marshes; both sexes there April 1937 (Morley).

Recent Status: Local in Suffolk mainly in the east of the county. Probably under recorded due to early flight time and high flying habits.

It then falls to the ground where it constructs a flat bivalved case from pieces of dead Salix leaves. Dead Salix leaves are is its food until pupation.

Identification: This Adela is coppery metallic and has a black bristly head with forward pointing palps. The flight location aids identification.
