Morley’s Final Catalogue: By no means generally distributed. Records are confined to Bentley Woods in June 1894-1935, Fritton and (Doughty) Barsham.

Recent Status: More commonly recorded than in Morley’s time.

Life Style: A single brooded species that flies by day and occasionally comes to light from May to July. The larvae feed on dead leaves from a portable flat bivalve case constructed from dead leaf pieces. They pupate in the case.

Identification: An easily recognised boldly marked species. The central clear yellow band has blue purple fascia each side on a deep purplish brown wing marked with longitudinal golden yellow striae. The male has long antennae. The only similarly marked species Adela croesella is much smaller at 11 to 14 mm wing-span.
