Morley’s Final Catalogue: Generally distributed and anything but rare in the east; no west records. Bures, Copdock, Bentley Woods, common at Ipswich lights, Sproughton, Bramford, Felixstow, Playford, Hacheston, occasionally at Monks Soham light, Aldeburgh, Leiston, in an Eye stable, on sugar at Bungay, and in September 1932 on sugar at Fritton; Gorleston.

Recent Status: Recorded commonly across the county.

Life Style: A single brooded species with a partial second brood. The larvae feed on dead dry plant material, particularly hay. They pupate in a cocoon.

Identification: A smart distinctive species that cannot be confused.
