Recent Status: An immigrant species recorded in East Suffolk. This species has become resident on the southern coast so has the potential here in Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species that flies at night and comes to light. The larvae feed on Lamiaceae, Black Horehound being most commonly quoted. They feed in spring having hatched and hibernated.

Identification: The moth has cream forewings and light grey hindwings. The markings are grey to ferruginous in colour. The later colour making Udea ferrugalis a possible confusion species which species has narrower forewings and darker markings. U. fulvalis lacks the dark apical streak of U. ferrugalis and some other Udea species.
