Recent Status: This rare immigrant was first recorded in Kent during 2011, in Suffolk during 2014 and established colonies in Suffolk by the end of the 2010s.

Life Style: A single brooded species that flies in April and May. The larvae feed inside twigs and cones of Pinus, Abies and Picea. They hibernate fully fed and pupate in the spring.

Identification: An unmistakeable highly ornate moth in silvery grey with dark edged ferruginous markings. The marking offer some camouflage against the male catkins and terminal buds of the foodplant.
