(Klimesch, 1936)108 / 4.023

Morley’s Final Catalogue: Not listed. The Nepticulids were not extensively studied and only 21 were listed.

Recent Status: A common species across Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying during May and June. The larvae mine leaves of Crataegus. They pupate on the ground.

Identification: The moth has a dark golden brown forewing becoming purple fuscous beyond the silvery white fascia. The head tuft is black and the scape and collar whitish. The moth can be identified by breeding out from a mine or by genitalia dissection. More Info
The larva creates a long narrow gallery initially that is frass filled from an ovum on the underside of a leaf. The gallery then abruptly widens with the frass almost filling the mine arranged in arcs. It becomes more dispersed as the larva matures. The larvae are green. More Info
