Morley’s Final Catalogue: Near the north-east limit of its range. Not noted here since
recorded from near Ipswich about 1890 (Miller).

Recent Status: Found across Suffolk.

Life Style: The species flies from evening through the night and comes to light. The species hibernates and is most commonly noted in late winter or early spring. The larvae feed on a variety of deciduous trees starting on opening buds and subsequently from spun leaves. Most commonly on Prunus.

Identification: A larger Acleris species with a concave termen and moderately wide shoulders. It has a distinctive large centrally placed scale tuft that separates it from other British Acleris species. It is exceedingly variable with many names and striking colour variants.
