Morley’s Final Catalogue: In great profusion in all the larger oak-woods from Bentley to Fritton in Februarv and March.

Recent Status: A common species in Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species flying from January to March. One of the few regular species at that time of the year. They fly by day and come to light. The larvae feed from spun or turned down leaves of deciduous Quercus and also Betula, Corylus, Crataegus, Prunus spinosa and Tilia. They pupate in a silken and earth covered cocoon on the ground.

Identification: The moth is easily recognised particularly from the time of appearance but is quite variable. More Info
