Status
Morley's Final Catalogue: Not known from the County in Morley's time. First found in Britain in 1965 on the Suffolk coast. A breeding population was found close to the site of the first record in the early 1980s.
Recent Suffolk Status: Local, mainly in the Sandlings.
Life history: Single-brooded in the summer. Occasional late records in August.
Identification: Similar to other species of Fan-foot. Shaded Fan-foot is smaller and has a straighter first cross-line and darker shading across the centre of the forewing. Fan-foot lacks the dark shading in the centre of the forewing and is a larger moth. Common Fan-foot (extinct in the county) has a greyish forewing and a white hindwing. Small Fan-foot is the smallest species and the outer line curves to the top corner of the forewing.
