Status Morley's Final Catalogue: Somewhat frequent with us. Recently noted about Bentley Wood, at light (Mly); common at Martlesham (D), Hemley and Waldringfield (Wlr); Waldringfield (James); Southwold (Ctw); and Tuddenham (Sparke). Abundant at Sibton (Hawley).
Recent Suffolk Status: Very common.
Life history: Double-brooded. Has been noted from April till October in Suffolk. Regular at light in small numbers. Seen at dusk feeding at flowers in gardens. Larvae have been found on Nettles a few times in the county.
Identification: Similar to Dark spectacle. That species is darker in colour and has the basal area close to the thorax straw or reddish brown in colour.
