Recent Status: A scarce species in Suffolk.

Life Style: The moth has been found from February to September. The larvae feed on polyporous fungi but can also be found feeding in stored vegetable matter and even on cork.

Identification: The species is similar in appearance to N. cloacella. However the dark central mark on the costa does not narrow and then show a thin wide mark but it may extend. There are often further distinct dark marks on the costa. The termen is often dark spotted. Unless a good photograph is available an initial record must be backed up by genitalia dissection.
