Morley’s Final Catalogue: More abundant than the last kind from Bentley to Ashby; Tuddenham and rare at Monks Soham light.

Recent Status: One of Suffolk’s most abundant species of moth.

Life Style: A single or double brooded species that comes to light. It can be found from May to September. The larvae feed from spinnings on a wide range of herbaceous and woody plants and shrubs. They pupate in a cocoon on the ground.

Identification: A variable species that is generally well recognised but is similar to the scarcer Orthotaenia undulana. C. lacunana has a deep incision in the basal edge of the central band that gives rise to the ‘lacuna’ centrally in that band.
