Morley's Final Catalogue:Paranthrene tabaniformis, Rott., is immigrant from the continent to Essex: three British examples alone are known.
Recent Suffolk status: First found at a site in west Suffolk on 18/06/2023 using the TAB pheromone lure. Found at a second site, Lakenheath Fen RSPB reserve on 24/06/2023 with more moths noted there on subsequent dates. A third site again in west Suffolk was located on 08/07/2023.
Life history: Single-brooded in one extended generation on the continent, UK flight time currently not fully known.
Identification: A large clearwing species unlike any other.
Habitats: Wet woodlands, river valleys.
