Hypena obsitalis

(Hübner, [1813]) 2478 / 72.006

Morley's Final Catalogue: Not noted from the County in Morley's time.

Recent Suffolk status: Rare migrant and possible scarce resident. Until recently, all records were from the south-east of the county and were thought to be migrants. More regular records in the last few years from the Lowestoft and Felixstowe areas could indicate residency at these locations.

Life history: Two generations per year; flying in summer and again in the autumn. The second brood hibernates as adults and can be found in out-buildings, sheds etc.

Identification: The irregular cross-line is distinctive.

Habitat: Coastal areas, gardens.
