Morley's Final Catalogue: Very local before 1890 at Herringfleet, in Lothingland (Crf); and both Tuddenham (Skepper, &c.) and Newmarket heath (Fenland), in the Breck. Never seen since that year (Mly) and no later records.

Recent Suffolk status: Locally common, especially in the Brecks and the west of the County. Much scarcer in the east.

Life history: Single-brooded in the summer. Day-flying.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitat: Grassland, waste ground, road verges.

Recorded in 25 (43%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1940.
Last Recorded in 2024.
