Minsmere Crimson Underwing
Catocala conjuncta

(Esper, 1787) 2451a / 72.077

A single record of this species was found on the outside of a Mercury Vapour light trap at Minsmere, Suffolk on 14.09.2004, and remains the only UK record to date.

Identification: Smaller than the other brown Catocalids. Inner dark band on hindwing is a smooth curve, not jagged like other species. Inner central cross-line is straight unlike the Dark Crimson underwing which has a jagged line.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.
