Morley's Final Catalogue: Not known from the UK in Morley's time. First UK record was in 2002.

Recent Suffolk Status: Fairly common resident species with numbers probably boosted by immigration. First found in the county in 2005 at Bawdsey (M. Deans). Noted at other coastal sites up until 2008, when it disappeared for a couple of years following a cold winter. From 2010 onwards colonization took place with moths now appearing in two broods in the summer and autumn. Continuing to increase and spread further inland.

Life history: Double-brooded, with the second brood much larger in numbers.

Identification: Slightly similar to Mottled rustic but the ground colour is greyer and the kidney mark much darker and more obvious.

Habitat: A wide variety of habitats including gardens.

Recorded in 35 (60%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 2005.
Last Recorded in 2024.
