Morley's Final Catalogue: Both are sufficiently frequent at light everywhere: Ipswich, Monks Soham, Gorleston (referring also to Uncertain).
Recent Suffolk Status: Very common.
Life history: Single-brooded. Late records into November in recent times. Larvae have been found after dark in the autumn feeding on Orache seedheads in the county.
Identification: Differs from the Rustic and the Uncertain as it has dark spots on the forewings, darker than the ground colour and it is normally smaller.
Habitat: A wide variety of habitats including gardens.
