Both quite common kinds at flowers, dusk and sugar, throughout the county. The latter (Cloaked minor) was known here before 1829 (Stephens, iii, 15; Wood's index).

Recent Suffolk Status: Very common. Flies from June in Suffolk.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: A very variable species with plain and more marbled forms. Quite a small species with a more slender appearance. Small dotted buff has the row of black dots and Small wainscot normally has some dark streak across the wing and is a more thickset moth.

Habitat: A wide variety of grassy habitats including gardens.
