Recent Suffolk Status: Very rare immigrant. 2 records: Landguard, Felixstowe on 04.07.2000 (N. Odin) and Felixstowe on 22.06.2017 (M. Marsh).

Life history: Single-brooded on the continent.

Identification: F. combusta of Clouded-bordered brindle is smaller and has a pale oval near the kidney mark. Pale shining brown is a similar sized moth but is glossy, more greyish and has a conspicuous kidney mark and also lacks the spots along the costa.

Habitat: As a migrant has turned up in coastal habitats.
