(Linnaeus, 1761) 2311 / 73.212

Morley's Final Catalogue: Certainly quite rare, though wide spread. One specimen at Ipswich before 1890 (Henry Miller); near Thetford, about the same time (Revd. H. Williams); one at Henham in July 1924 (Mr).

Recent Suffolk Status: Very local in the north-east of the county. Not seen in Suffolk after 1924 up until 2012 when a population was located along the Waveney valley. Recently found at a few other sites in the same area. Possibly overlooked but expansion from populations on the Norfolk side of the river cannot be ruled out.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: Olive is larger, paler and lacks the strongly hooked forewing tip.

Habitat: Sallow carr, river valleys, marshes.
