Morley's Final Catalogue: Referring also to Pink-barred sallow: Common on sugar, reed-flower and Ivy blossom everywhere from Bentley to Fritton.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded. Has emerged as early as July and August in the county. Frequent at light in small numbers. Regularly recorded at Ivy blossom, Blackberries and sugar. Larvae have been found in Suffolk by collecting fallen Sallow catkins where the larvae start to feed before switching to various low-growing plants.

Identification: Quite a variable species. Some forms have virtually no dark marks, including F. flavescens. Pink-barred sallow has reddish brown shoulders. Dusky-lemon sallow is darker in colour without a hooked wing tip.

Habitat: Woodlands, marshes, river valleys, gardens.
