Morley's Final Catalogue: Not noted from the county in Morley's time. He states: Neither of the much-coveted C. rubiginea et erythrocephala, F., occurs: the former might well do so, but the latter is confined to our south litoral counties.

Recent Suffolk Status: Scarce immigrant, becoming more regularly recorded in recent times.
The first county record was in 2004, at Bawdsey (M. Deans). Both the normal form and f. glabra have been noted in Suffolk.

Life history: Single-brooded. The adults hibernate and reappear in the spring.

Identification: A larger species than the Chestnut, with 3 black marks in the kidney spot.

Habitat: All Suffolk records have been close to the coast.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 6 (10%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 2004.
