Morley's Final Catalogue: Of frequent occurrence on sugar and ivy-blossom everywhere from Bentley to Gorleston; Bury (Skepper, Mr), Mildenhall (Gd).

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded. The adults hibernate over the winter. Recorded regularly in the county at ivy blossom and Blackberries in the autumn, Sallow flowers in the spring as well as at light traps. Larvae have been found in late spring in Suffolk on various trees. They also eat other moth larvae.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitat: Woodland, scrub, parkland and gardens.
