Morley's Final Catalogue: Abundant on oaks and sugar in oak-woods, e.g. Bentley and Fritton; Wherstead, Helmingham Pk., Elmham, Covehithe, Sotterly, Gorleston, &c.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded. Adults regularly seen in light traps and on Ivy blossom and Blackberries. Larvae found quite regularly in the late spring on Oak.

Identification: Fairly unmistakeable. Shears flies much earlier in the year.

Habitat: Woodland, parkland, gardens.

Recorded in 47 (81%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1940.
Last Recorded in 2023.
