Morley's Final Catalogue: Unknown with us. Confined to the west of Britain.

Recent Suffolk Status: Locally common in VC25. Fewer records in VC26, but steadily increasing.
The first county record was in 1959, at Waldringfield (Rev. A. P. Waller). Since the 1970s colonization took place, with records increasing further in the 1990s coinciding with the increase in moth recorders.

Life history: Single-brooded. Has emerged as early as July in Suffolk.
Comes to light in numbers and readily found on Ivy blossom in the county.

Identification: Large ranunculus is larger, greyer, lacks the greenish colouration and has feathered antennae in the male.

Habitat: Coastal habitats, suburban areas, gardens.

Recorded in 41 (71%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1959.
Last Recorded in 2024.
