Morley's Final Catalogue: No rarer than the last; on ivy-blossom and sugar. Copdock, Ipswich; Waldringfield, Leiston; Needham, Stowmarket; Tuddenham (Sparke); Reydon on 14 Nov. 1936 (Baker); Wrentham (Gd), Bungay (Mn) and Barsham on sallow in April 1892 (Mly); Burgh Castle (D), Fritton and Gorleston (Mr).

Recent Suffolk Status: A former resident but now a rare immigrant. Recent records from Landguard on 25.09.1996 (N. Odin), Bawdsey Manor on 08.11.2004 (M.J. Deans) and Eye on 16.10.2006 (P. Kitchener).

Life history: Single-brooded. The adults hibernate over the winter.

Identification: Most likely confusion species is Sword-grass; see that account for differences.

Habitat: As a resident, was found in damp woodland and marshes in the county. Recent records have been mainly coastal.
